I seem to remember that last year numbers were published about the cost of Mutford Lock and the actual cost that the customer was charged.

At the time I was told that the BA didn't want to increase the cost as most of the lock thurs would help revitalise the economy of Oulton Broad.

Would it be possible to do a survey of the records to see how many of these visitors actually spend time on the Broads? I assume they pay visitors tolls, but very few, if any, stop in Oulton Broad.

Why not make them pay full freight and make the transit free for boats that have paid a full years tolls

Evening Richard,

Hope you have had a good day.

A survey is planned for this year (2017/18), we will be keeping a record of those transiting the lock and where they go to see if they stay in the Oulton Broad area or visit more of the broad’s system.

In the meantime charges are due to remain at £13 per vessel for each lock transit or day return and like all charges it is subject to a yearly review having been recently looked at by the Authority in 2016. This also covers visiting vessels for the use of Oulton Broad (only) on the day of entry and up to midnight on the day following.  For longer stays or to cruise further into the system a Short Visit Toll remains payable, and vessels will be advised accordingly.
