Had an interesting morning over at Somerleyton chatting to the man who knows all there is to know about the Waveney One Design. Saw a number in their finished state and others being worked on. Cleared up the issues with how much can be done to the boat and still keep her in class, and it seems the problem with the rig has been addressed. After seeing the beautiful examples it may be best to put Orchis back to original specification and keep my other restoration Teasel as our cabin boat. Still got lots of time before making the final decision. cheers Mat

Twas Neil I spoke to JM, seems a very nice chap. Quick question for you if you can remember, did Orchis have slatted or solid seats? All the ones I saw at the weekend had slatted but I'm sure some had solid. Have sent you a PM bye the way, cheers Mat

Whoopee, I've found a good bit! After a gentle, flat sanding the transom looks to be in good shape. cheers Mat

Hi, I sail Waveney 29 on Oulton Broad. They are great boats to sail. Good luck with the restoration. Here is a photo of W6, looks like Oulton Broad but I don't know when.

Thanks for posting the pic of Orchis MrT, its nice to see her sailing I see No 29 has the same name as the river cruiser I am also restoring. After the daft idea I had of adding a cabin or Orchis I've now come to my senses and am putting the boat back to its original specification. Looking forward to actually getting out and sailing on at least one of them sometime this season! cheers Mat

Stumbled across this again whilst searching for something - did anything come of the Waveney restoration? I was looking forward to seeing the pictures!?
