Hi - my son and I are doing our first 3 day trip on saturday (2nd Aug), we will have a dog in tow as well. Have found out much valuable information from the forum, but would appreciate any other advice. Our loose plan is to collect the boat on saturday afternoon at Brundall and head toward Oulton Broad, 2nd night Beccles before heading back for the final night at Rockland. Any advice on where to moor, good dog friendly pubs, fishing etc will be much appreciated.

All the pubs are pretty good or they would be out of
business, but one that I know and can recommend is the
New Inn at Rockland Staithe. Not sure about dogs, but the
food and beer are good. Enjoy. Smile

Actually, reading your post again - that is a very nice
trip.

best regards,
Eric

Hi Andy,

We are based at Brundall and Loddon is always our first stop. (White horse pub is a firm favourite). Unfortunately I'm not a fan of oulton broad (although it's getting better and the riverside/boatyard walk to lowestoft is nice), so straight to Beccles is always our favourite. If you can get under the bridge, I highly recommend going onto the geldeston and a visit to the locks inn (although there is only the pub - But its a lovely pub). Rockland again is a good overnight stop.. Surlington broad (opposite Brundall) is nice to mudweight overnight! - (And fish from)...

Have a brilliant weekend though, the southern broads are very relaxing!

Regards, Alan

We do not need a bigger boat...

Regards, Alan

Thanks Eric, that's reassuring, we did not want to overplan but to have a rough idea. Appreciate your comments.

Hi, Andy..welcome to the madhouse! Cheers

Just one caveat when on the Southern Broads, the tidal rise and fall is greater than on the Northern side so you'll need to take that into consideration when mooring.

Sounds like you've planned the perfect three-night itinerary though. Smile

John
