Hi All
Cant find much on clearance on Bure bridges.
Differences between High & Low water clearance.
14th Aug or 15th going south to north with 7ft airdraft.

Was only concerned that I might have to get up at silly
O`clock!

Whats the latest we can cross on 14th from say reedham or
loddon?

As no-one else has put in their oar, I'll have a go.

The tide table shows slack water at GY at 05.56 and 18.23 on the 14th, so that should give you an aiming point.

Bridge clearances depend on an enormous spread of factors, from wind direction, barometric pressure and amount of rainfall, but without knowing what your airdraft requirements are, can't really comment. Average high water clearances for these bridges are given as 6'9", so you should have plenty of clearance as long as you get there about 18.30. Sunset is at 20.20, so you've time to get to Stracey, Stokesby, or possibly Acle before dark.

Edit: Just read your post again and seen your airdraft of 7'. In that case, get there when you like, you'll probably get under OK!!! But arrive before slack water and you'll be fighting a horrific current through the yacht station and all the way up the Bure.

Regards, Ray.

If it's neither here, nor there, then where is it?

Thanks Ray, I did wonder if 6`9" at ave High then I would
prob be ok at most times, just couldn`t find reference to
how big the clearance got, you know what I mean "X"
inches per hour after low etc!

Never had problem before but got `held` once for a while
in bigger boats.

Wife would never stop laughing if I crunched it!
Boat licence bla bla for ever! Wink

There's normally at least 4 to 5 feet difference between high and low at Yarmouth. Just to show how things can change, I've seen 13 ft air draft at low water a few years back, then the next year, I got trumped when I turned up at half an hour after slack to find 7'9" (I need 8' for Sunbird). If you really need to be sure always ring the yacht station and ask (if they're open).

Regards, Ray.

OK cheers ray, I may be a bit early and fight the ebb, or
ring them but I am sure I will manage it now.

Fought a lot fiercer waters than that! lol
