It all depends on what you want.

Their are moorings in the middle of nowhere (inc mud-weighting) with no facilities but brilliant for peace and quiet.

Do you want to cook on-board? if not you require a pub or restaurant near by.

Do you have a full boat? In which case you will benefit from a mooring with scope to get away from the crowd. etc.

For me I wouldn't have any pre-conceived plan of where I want to go and when. Go with the flow and be prepared to change your mind depending on weather.

I'll echo that, there is pretty much anything you could want somewhere on the broads, so go with the flow.
I've always found the Ordnance Survey map (advertised on this site) very useful. It shows where there are moorings and a good number of the pubs etc.
Whatever your choice, have a great time.
Keep on cruisin'
