Time for me to start looking at next year, if I want to be sure to get my first choice of dates off from work. I hope someone can help me with suggestions that suit my needs.

Each year I take my Mother, her sister and a church friend on holiday. Three Dowager ladies in the latter half of their 70's. Two reasonably fleet of foot but one less so, though not totally incapacitated and can manage stairs and steps but not walk long distances.

Boats are out due to the one being inform and one having a vehement dislike of being on water, so the need is for a cottage to match the following:

Well furnished, clean and tidy.
Three bedrooms, one of which must be twin, not bunk beds.
River front - the ladies must be able to sit (inside or out) and watch the boats go by, preferably river not dyke or basin
Day launch included, or available extra on weekly terms, I want to be able to get out on the river!

I have looked at Herons reach with Broadland Holidays - if we went with this can anyone suggest day launch hire nearby?

Boulter Marine of Horning for your Dayboat.
We paid £145 for a week this June, with enough fuel to get to France and back.
Nice looking boats for a dayboat too.
Like most boats they are a bit loud on board, but at the bank you can hardly hear them, so don't worry about early morning or late evening cruising.
They are based in Woods dyke, and the staff are very good.

Try Riverside Holidays at Potter Heigham. They rent out the bungalows along the Thurne. There must be one which matches your bedroom requirements. All have river frontage, but you would need to arrive by boat so that might be a problem for the one who does not like water.
They arrange dayboats (from Maycraft - I think).
They are in the business section of this site.

boatboy, i've stayed at herons reach several times now & am going again in oct.

tis a lovely, comfortable house with the river bure at the foot of the garden. perfect for fishing or just watching the boats & ducks.

broadland holidays are superb & i can't praise elizabeth enough for her help last year, in letting us have herons reach at only 24 hours notice, due to my partner undergoing chemotherapy.

we hired a dayboat from boulter marines.very freindly & helpful.

roll on october, can't wait to be going back Smile
