With only a month (hopefully) until we take delivery of our new 'baby'we are in the process of gathering all the ancillary items required.

We are looking at Auto Gas Life Jackets at present and wonder if any members have any recommendation's/experience that they could share.

I really like these as they are very unobtrusive and deploy only when needed.

Thanks

Perry

Lots of people have mentioned this supplier - http://www.cheaplifejackets.co.uk/.
They  also turn up at most Boat Jumbles. Bought a bouancy aid for the dog - v. ggod price.

You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and
it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't,  use the duct tape.

I can give cheaplifejackets a thumbs up. I ordered 2, to be delivered to the boatyard. Only problem was our American credit card company declined the charge, v. quickly sorted out.

Whatever type you get, try to make sure re arming kits are readily available, some of the cheaper more obscure types are the devils own job to find spares for.

Sorry this might be a bit late but we brought our life jackets from Suffolk Sailing. These people were very good and spent a while chatting to us to find out what type of jacket would suit us. One point I do remember was that as the jackets would be used over tee shirts (Hot weather - JOKE!)they recomended a jacket with a fluffy collar that would not chafe the back of the neck. As they stated you are more likely to ware it if it is comfortable.

When we were at their shop/industrial unit, I think they had inflatables being serviced for the govenment for use in both the Artic and Antartic. We later brought our inflatable tender from them and they took an hour out to explain about inflation, use and folding the boat back up.

Worth a phone call if you are looking for safey items.
