Hello all,

After my holiday on the Broads, I have to say my passion for boats has been refreshed. I am now thinking seriously about purchasing a small cheap boat, circa 24ft for around 5k.

I am so out of touch with all the regulations and fees, it would be very much appreciated if someone could list all the annual expenses which constitute running costs, along with a guide to survey fees etc when buying. I would also like an idea of the cost of moorings for a boat of the above size on the Broads.

Thought this would be a good first step, as no point in buying if I can not afford to keep it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Mike.
Use the blue search button to look for threads on this topic. There has been quite a lot of recent discussion so you will find good info.

The short answer by the way, is 'no' you probably can't afford it...none of us can, but we do!! Playful

'Stop it you silly ass!' cried the Rat from the bottom of the boat 'You can't do it! You'll have us over!'
