Hi

We are new to this site, so we hope we have posted in the right place.

We are going on the Broadland Neptune from Richardsons Boatyard in August, but we can't seem to find any information or photo's of the boat.  Has any been on this boat or got any information about it?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Gav and Alison

I believe this boat was originally built as Evening Primrose by the old Colin Facey yard (before he bought Woods Dyke) at the time when they were also restoring the wherry White Moth - which is now with NBYCO.

We went to see it not long after the yard had finished it as my uncle had booked it for that summer, having had some excellent boats from Colin Facey in the past. He was a little unimpressed with the build at the time and we concluded that this was a bit of a 'friday afternoon' boat.

As I understand it, this was borne out during the actual hire where it seemed that the design hadn't been thought out very well and to make things worse I think it broke down right in front of Wroxham bridge, too.

That was all a long time ago, though and Richardson's have probably worked their magic over it. I note from the entry in the Hireboat info section that this boat now has an inverter fitted and features a hoover and microwave in its inventory.

Hi Everyone

They have certainly changed all the windows since the days with Colin Facey Boats - they used to look a bit of a badly designed mis-match.

All I know is the aft cabin is a real squeeze for space when the double is pulled out - but apolagies if this is of little use - as you've probably guessed that from the layout plan

I have added a link to the forums hirecraft info section Jonzo mentioned... click the red marker above to see an external shot at least

All the best

Dan

Ahhh... no members have added a picture of B'Neptune to the section of the site.

This can be done through the 'hireboat info' section of the site - button near bottom of the page.

Here's a not so great one from 2003 to give you a good idea

All the best

Dan

Aha. That would make sense then Dan. I was looking at the picture thinking "that can't be Evening Primrose can it?" but the new windows would explain it. As you say they were a mess before.
