Hi all

Just been looking at availability for next May, for the likes of Fair Diplomat (our favourite!) using the Blakes website. Part of the system said all available, part booked out for most of May already! On available dates, came up something about contacting the boatyard direct to check availability...
Also, I notice that the 3 new boats werent listed on there.

Does anyone know if there is something going on?

I too was looking at the Blakes web site the other  day and getting strange results like you.   Also lots of boats seem to be not available.
Downloaded their broachure as well, a load of rubish if a person not know about the Broads and boating they are not going to be attracted.
I just wondered if Blakes going the way of Woolworths and MFI.

Regards
David

Hi David,

As the latest and newest Blakes boatyard I can assure you that Blakes are not going the way of MFI and Woolworths!

Their 2009 web site is running late as people like me are joining and it's having to be rewritten prior to going live.

This time of the year with not a lot of income some yards may be putting some boats up for sale just to see if they can be sold and perhaps to raise a little income.

Perhaps some are here http://www.norfolkboatsales.co.uk/

(oops not sure if i did that right but if the link does not work have a look anyway!!!!!

I tend to agree with you Len, but good quality Broads cruisers under 15 years old remain at a premium. Look at the site in question - some have already been sold!!!

Even older Broads cruisers seem to find a ready market but where the recession will bite on prices wll be on the smaller so-called sports cruisers. I am glad not to be selling one of those!!!

Looking at the industry it is not a surprise that this should be the case - after all the number of new boats being launched was less and less in the early 90's and demand, recession or no, will outstrip supply. Hence high prices - basic economic fact!!! Smile
