New for 2017 at Belaugh Boatyard - The Pedal Boat from Dadsboats - this unique pedal-powered canoe is now available to hire and is great fun! The Pedal Boat is sleek and stable and allows 2 passengers to relax in her comfortable seats and pedal their way along this quiet unspoilt stretch of the River Bure. It is surprising how little effort is needed to achieve quite a pace! Come along and have a go – see if you can spot the kingfishers and otters. It’s an easy paddle to Coltishall common for a picnic, ice-cream or a visit to the riverside pubs; or a longer trip to Wroxham and all it has to offer. Costs £20 for the boat per hour, please contact us on 01603 781581 or 07519 534601 to book, or email theboatyardbelaugh@yahoo.com. Check out our website http://www.belaughboatyard.com/ or visit us on Facebook for some photos of the Pedal Boat https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=belaugh%20boatyard Text

Saw these at the Boat Show last year and they actually look pretty good. https://dadsboats.com/the-story/ Not necessarily the cheapest thing in the world but the quality looked to be excellent and a darned sight more comfortable than any sit-upon, kayak or (dare I say it) open canoe!

Seams a bit expensive for the hour when compared to a barns day boat starting at £18 an hour for up to 8 people I personally would only want to pay £10 max.

That's exactly what I thought! Fancy trying them as we often go up there and could leave our boat on Belaugh staithe and have an afternoon of pedal power fun, but £20 per hour is a tad steep when compared to a day boat. Karen

Dare we mention that one of Dad's Boats (in addition to circumnavigating the Isle of Wight) currently holds the record time of 9hrs 45mins from Wroxham Bridge to Foundry Bridge in Norwich, set in the early 2000's and never (to the best of my knowledge) challenged since. As stoker aboard that fine vessel it's one of my treasured memories and I was privileged to be asked to crew. Fine boats, tell your Mum.....after sailing, the best fun you can have with your clothes on

Hi all, We have tried to price this reasonably whilst still making it a financially viable option. It's a new venture and we can't expect the kind of high throughput of the big dayboat hire companies in Wroxham. Anyone who is in Belaugh is welcome to come along and have a look and you will see that this is a very different experience to a dayboat! Also consider that the going rate for a stand-up-paddleboard on the Broads is £25 per hour - these only take one person and cost considerably less new than a Pedal Boat! Hoping to see some of you over the summer - you won't know til you've tried it!!

Fair comment. Maybe a 10% reduction to the first ten forum members who hire , provided they pm you to confirm membership? ?? Karen

And therein lies the problem... Most people have only the most basic understanding of how business works. The clear, concise and reasonable explanation of how this is priced by the owner surely clears that up. Given the investment and expected uptake (given the location) there has to be at least some return. £20 per hour for TWO people to see such a cracking stretch of river....A snip! It may well be possible to get a day-boat cheaper but this is about entertainment and fun too. Plus it also has the advantage of no engine noise to add to the appeal.
