Stuey,
I work on the railway in London, we have progressed on a bit from 47's to Class 67's.

Sorry to bring bad news, but since my post on the 28th,I have found out that Greater Anglia have ceased loco hauled trains (DRS class47) from Norwich to Gt.Yarmouth /Lowestoft, as they have sufficient DMU's now to make up the service. Pity, as I recall that  the diesel locos really used to make the swing bridges rumble and shake when crossing.
All we can hope for is the occasional infrastructure train which are quite rare in this neck of the woods!
Yes, and I am also a Rail enthusiast, but not to be seen on the end of platforms, snapping away or recording numbers, just preferring a general interest in historic and modern railways, and other forms of transport (air, road and sea).
Suppose I'm lucky in living next to a line that sees plenty of freight and passenger services, including the odd Deltic!

Happened across this page so here is a quick update on some of the points in the various posts
Loco traction (pairs of Class 37s) in use still till the new stock arrives including Sundays(There will be full details of the new trains in Rail Magazine out Wed 23/5/18)
Work progressing on LED signalling (only Reedham & Somerleyton Boxes retained).
BA supporting replacement of the two swing bridges rather than refurbishment (several hot weather closures already this year)!

It must be nearing the end of the line for the sprinters, the one I caught last Thursday on the bittern line was switched off when I boarded. When restarted it felt like it was on full chat for a couple of minutes, pulling out on the flat ok but seemed to be limited on the inclines and running a bit faster into the stations and braking harder to make up the lost time perhaps. I remember catching them to the midlands in the 80s, seemed quicker in those days.

Just to add to the live steam model engineering picks, this is my late father with his scratch built Britania class 5" gauge model of Black Prince. The only parts bought in were the wheel castings.
Unfortunately we had to sell it when the house was cleared even though I kept in storage for 2years but where do you put a 6' long engine on a 31' boat. He would have been pleased to know that the money from the sale more than paid for new quay heading on our mooring as he was a lover of boats, sailing and the Norfolk Broads.

Forgot to add that I do love trains (steam) but do have other interests. When I was young I was lucky enough to have a short trip on the footplate of the Oliver Cromwell at Bressingham before elf n safety stopped it all.
