Nice to see you posting, hope your feel a bit better now.

The forum is great isn't it... amazing how much information can be had in a week, let alone a few months - so should keep you busy for a while! Smile

Hi Paddy,

Great to see you back - thoughts and prayers for a recovery back to full form. A week on the Broads might not cure everything, but it's a good start!

Hi chaps,
Thanks for your reply and good wishes. We have been on the Broads each year since "99 but this year we may not be able to go due to a worsening in my arthritic complaint, but what the hell! I`ve still got my looks. We have a caravan in Rye and I feel that my holidays will be limited to there from now on but I will always have great memories of the times we spent in Norfolk and through the "Forum" I will always be afloat.

Regards PaddyH

Hi Paddy, Sorry to hear you have not been too well, but pleased you are now on the mend.

There are several places around the Broads that have caravans and ground floor accomodation suitable for people with mobility problems, so it doesnt have to be the end to your Broads holidays really.

My elderly Dad still enjoys a few days a year at the NBD ground floor appartment right near Wroxham bridge, and there are some good bargains to be had at the Wild Duck caravan park, not far from St Olaves Bridge. They are one of the quieter and quite pretty (as caravan parks go) of the Haven Holidays sites, and they do have caravans converted for a disabled persons use, with ramp access and adapted bathrooms/walk in showers ect, and as the name suggests, plenty of wild ducks!

Hi Paddy welcome back,

I don't see why you should discount the Broads albeit perhaps a slightly different sort of holiday  If you look at this thread you will find there are plenty of things to do and places to go.

http://www.the-norfolk-broads.co.uk/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=23&Topic=1368&keywords=Disabled

One thing I am not sure about but which might be worth enquiring upon is whether it is possible to short term hire the little motorised buggys that the charities and local authorities lease to the less mobile.  If you wanted to find out both the Broads Authority and County Hall might be worth a ring.

Hi Paddy
Sorry to here about your illness and hope you will be able to visit The Broads one day soon Cheers
I thought you told me that the aches and pains were due to a trip down the stairs, after to much falling down water Wink
Keep in touch and let me know when you are up to a visit. I will come and find you and have a beer or two.
