For those members who remember Young Jonny who was a regular poster earlier in the year, and had such a strong love of the broads that he moved down from his home in Manchester to start a new life afloat, Well sadly due to lack of suitable jobs available, and the rising costs of life afloat, he has been forced to return home to live with his family, and his boat 'Curlew' will be up for sale via Julie's boat sales in the new year, a nice boat for some lucky new owner next season.

Im sure all members will join me in wishing him well, and hopefully finding a suitable job and happiness in the new year.

good luck Jonny,

Julia  Smile

I'm pleased to echo your good wishes for the lad Julia.

Although I never met him myself, I spoke to others that did and as you say, he did love the Broads and Curlew.

Best Wishes Jonny for a Good Christmas!

Most unfortunate, he is a likeable chap, I do hop he gets what he wants from life eventually.

Such a shame about that.  I know how much he loves the boat and loves his life afloat.  He sent me a very nice text thanking me for being his mate and helping him out when he didn't know anyone which was really nice of him, but unfortunately it's just made me feel worse as this time there's nothing I can do to help him!  Frown

I think his going home is a good idea under the circumstances but I really hope he finds a job there quickly and they rethink their plans to sell Curlew because I think it'll really hurt when she's gone.

Simon

Well that's a real shame, please pass on our best wishes to Jonny, I hope things works out for him. At least had the brass ones to go for it.

Hi Danny, I believe Jonny's dad stopped paying for an ISP when Jonny moved to the Broads, and due to a tight family budget, the pc was then sold to help fund Jonny's living costs whilst down on the Broads.

Jonny has managed a couple of times to get onto the forum via a computer in the local libary, but mainly I communicate with him via text messages and free talk time on my phone. I have also met him for real, and was due to have treated him to a Christmas lunch and a pint last weekend, but he was forced to return home with his Dad after they had arranged to sell the boat via Julie's boat sales, He was finding it hard funding the heating costs aboard the boat, and was moored up at Rockland staithe using the shore power as sparingly as possible. Earlier in the year he had some very kind support from the keepers of the Surlingham ferry, who often used to feed him in return for a few odd jobs around the pub and staithe, but sadly that support ended with the recent problems at the ferry.
