Hi all,

Now someone must live in Yorkshire and be able to hand out some advice.

We (GC, Mrs GC and the 3 little GC's) are hoping to take our caravan to Yorkshire dales for a few days in October.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to stay please. Amenities would be good but not essential, just looking for some peace and quiet in another part of the country.

Thanks

Gary

Don't know many places but ther is a caravan site right next to the heart beat set just next door to the pub nice few shops nearby also short walk down the road you can actually get on an old fashioned steam train and go through some of the country side before you finnally end up at some town.

Theres a lovely site in Leyburn - caravan and camping club one, but I think it takes non members....

Will get some more info from resident family expert - my sister - and get back to you....

Lovely part of North Yorkshire (the Dales), beautiful scenery, pretty little places, and this is a quiet site with ducks and things to remind you of Norfolk!

More to follow as soon as I get hold of mi sis,

Karen

James is talking North Yorkshire Moors, Goathland. Dont know the name of the site though. Think I have some pics somwhere though.... Whitby and the East coast is nearby - sort of rugged countryside compared to The Dales but lovely, and steep, and stunning coastline.

Now, who said I was biased.... Playful

Years ago,we used to stay at a place called Thirkleby Hall, near Thirsk in north yorks,a wonderful place for a bit of peace and quiet, with the added bonus of Thirsk races nearby,or only 20 mins from York on the train. Its also situated under the White Horse,(made of stone on the hillside). Not far off the A1.
Not been for years, but if its still going,I would recommend it to anyone.

Gary, Yorkshire?!?!  When another couple of hours would see you in England's most picturesque county!

Get yersels to Cumbria....or Dumfries and Galloway. Or Wigtownshire. These places have TREES mate. And coasts and water and great food. Ok so there's a few desolate, bleak moors in Westmorland but just drive through it!!!

Doenitz,

Done Cumbria. Now correct me if Im wrong but I thought the other places were under the Scottish Flag, or is it the flag of convenience to have them in England now and again?!?!?

If I had my way it would be a wayfarer on the broads but Mrs GC and the little GC's wouldnt be that impressed, especially in October!
