Interesting, thank you Cocklegat. Some may disregard your comments if you are not " local" but that's irrelevent to me.

Flonker - you offended me previously in this thread, yes, but now you've made me laugh!

Karen.

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so what."
Edited to remove a profanity, Greybeard if you cant Express yourself without resorting to Anglo Saxon then please refrain.

I don't really care how often people use the term GB. Certainly not one I use here as a rule. But if anyone feels offended I think you'll find they can say so,  regardless of your view , and definitely in spite of your quoting abusive language.

You haven't read the terms of service GB?

As a mod it's our "job"  to keep the forum safe and within the terms of service. You linked to a YouTube clip which opened up full size large letters of the offensive word that another mod has removed from an earlier post (which had auto edited the word  but was still clearly a profanity ).  I take it from your actions that you were determined to use the word, regardless,  and that you wish to ignore the courtesies we require all members to extend to others.

So no, I am not " offended" here , I'm not some delicate little flower, what I and the other mods are doing is keeping the forum as the owner wants it, and as other contributors deserve it to be.

Karen

Well Karen I don't know exactly what you count as 'local'  but I do know who Percy Trett was and why the mill is called Stracey, just a couple of relevant names in the long running Saga of the Straights.  That said I'm neither a Canary nor a Bloater but some might describe me as a "Pud', A dumpling for sure.

The Acle Straight dualling proposals were left out of the current road funding programme (despite those little molluscs having been rehomed) and the next opportunity won’t be until 2030 at the very earliest. By which time the road will be submerged, if the climate change proponents are correct  tounge-in-cheek

I don't have a problem with the road. Whichever way I'm heading, I just stay behind the vehicle in front of me until we reach the queue at the round-about (and there always seems to be a vehicle in front of me).

Been hit by another boat? Report the incident to the Marine Accident Investigation Branch’s dedicated accident reporting line on 023 8023 2527 which is monitored 24 hours a day.  Help to make the Broads safer.
