Hi all ,
With a new boating season starting today and hireboat yards open for business,  thought it would be good to provide tide times at Gt yarmouth, this will be daily from BA

Let's hope the BnA get the times right not like they dud a few years ago when they printed in the Broadcaster  ALL time as low when in fact they printed the HIGH tide times instead and had to recall the Broadcaster and reprint the correct times.
ALWAYS check what the BnA say as  can not alway be trusted.

I cruise on THE NORFOLK BROAD as I can not cruise on something that is NOT.

"ALWAYS check what the BnA say as  can not alway be trusted."

Ooooooooh  LOL

Don't forget, there is a link to tide times at the foot of each page on this forum. Very easy to use and to check for specific dates. I usually just print off the relevant days, if I'm going down South. Never had a problem with it yet.

But, if anyone is concerned, particularly about the bridge clearances, it's always best to give the Gt Yarmouth Yacht Station a ring, as they are the ones with the absolutely bang-up-to-date information.

Steve, aren't you making a rod for your own back? But it might be an interesting exercise (for someone, not me!) to compare the data given by GYYS, Shorebase and the Broadcaster.

Use the Shorebase tables - easy to understand and helpful throughout the system!!

Only thing is that sunset is in GMT but good tables - who wants to know the tide at Yarmouth Bar unless you going out to sea? Never understood that bit!

All information is good, but I have always used slack water time as the advised time for passing the YS.

Coming north on Low Water will give you a long 'ol slog up the Bure, probably at least as far as Acle. Its hard enough at slack water and although I know its an hour later than low, perhaps not everyone does.

Just a thought....!!!!

The predicted tides for the Broads all originate from admiralty tide data based around "Standard ports" and "Secondary ports", points along the coast.  Not intended for use in inland water navigation.
Yarmouth Bar (Gorleston Bar) is the nearest original data point and is a "Secondary port" It is also the place where the local tide gauge is situated. This measures the actual tide hight and time. In the case of Yarmouth this can vary hugely when surge tides occur. This may not seem important to uses of the Broads rivers but understanding the origin of the data is important.
Think of it like this, Data correlated at key points (Standard Ports, in our case Lowestoft) is then corrected from secondary ports (Yarmouth bar) this then is corrected for the yacht station, which is then corrected for example Potter Heigham Bridge. Of course the prediction does not take into account actual variations on the day, these can be dramatic as in the case of storm surge or smaller, such as the effects of rainfall on river flow and even atmospheric pressure.
You can see this on the live data supplied by the port. https://www.peelports.com/marine/our-ports/great-yarmouth
This might give you some indications of expected variations on the day.
This is an academic point of view and I completely agree that the best people to ask are those at the Yacht Station. We have so much information available these days that we tend to forget the common sense approach
