Hi all
Hoping to pop down to the boat next weekend to give it a run out.Ranworth and the Maltsters is our prefered option, but I think I saw that the moorings had been closed.Does anyone know if this is still the case and if so is it all out of bounds?
Cheers Steve & Cath

hi steve and cath, i was down there 2 weeks ago, the BA are doing some repairs to the staithe, but it was half completed and there were some visiting day boats moored along one section, but it was quite muddy, and the water pipes had been removed from their stands.
i think it would be possible to moor for a pub visit, but not sure about overnight. the work may well have been compleated by now, but take your wellies!

Hiya,
the main mooring is still closed, but if your small enough the dyke is still open.
There is no water or electric available.

I love Ranworth but getting a mooring is a nightmare in the season !I'm hiring Royal Ambassador in August, if I can get away from the boatyard at 1-ish how long will it take to Ranworth and realistically what are my chances of mooring at the staithe on a Saturday afternoon?

Regards,
Stefan.  Question

hi stefan, a guesstimate would be around 3 to 4 hours depending on wind and tide, observing the speed limits of course!
its very much lucky dip with the moorings, yes there will be fewer hire boats there on a saturday afternoon, but increasingly more recently boats have had monday, tuesday and friday starts so its not as quiet as it used to be. its normally possible though to get close enough to drop off crew for the shop, doggy walk ect, (with the accepted boat etiquet of being able to step aboard another moored boat to gain land access) before returning to mudweight in the broad. its a pity the B.A doesnt provide extra moorings in high season from floating pontoons.

KNOCK KNOCK A j.p. response to this problem perhaps? Many moons ago Blakes promoted / sponsered these moorings a time for renewed investment?

hi stefan ,
i have found with royalls that there take over times are very ,very good !!! if anything they do like you there early to take over ( in my hiring days and my patents still hire from them ,your are out on the river just after 12.00pm ). i would say that wroxham to ranworth 2 1/2 hrs .but do please bear in mind that these moorings at the stathie are very popular , but if you time it right you can get a space when they start to come out the pub after the dinnertime rush,
good luck

steve and vicky

Bill.
not qute sure where you are coming from, the B A moorings have been done up over the winter.
The prob is more space is needed.
As either side of the Staithe is Private land, how can investment from any one help.
My answer is temp pontoons, from the Staithe,Better ideas awaited.
