I watched it but was disappointed that there was nothing on the broads at all. Mainly seemed to be about old fishing boats. Simon
A bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office.

Nothing about the Broads - but as a whole I found it interesting. Indeed these programs as a whole are - though I feel would have been better to have narration than just subtitles explaining what we are seeing. What I did find interesting was the huge scale the London Boat show was in the 1960's along with just how many pleasure boats (sail and motor) around this time and how colorful many were. Also how the Thames looked not that long ago - and how now it is nothing of its former self right down to the skyline and how that has changed.

I think they used sub titles because they kept the original sound track which would heve clashed with any new naration. Dave

Ah, what childhood memories! That triple cockpit speedboat "Crusader" was one of several which operated off the beaches on the South coast, from very precarious mobile jetties, basically scaffold planks on big iron wheels. These jetties were adjusted up and down the slope of the beach according to the state of the tide but the waves would often slop over the walkway, filling our boots! My mum preferred the rear cockpit as it was the wettest ride from the spray and I remember a bit of canvas attached to the bulkhead in front for you to pull up to your chin to keep at least some of it off! Didn't work though! These boats were a must when we were on holiday but thinking back, what an H & S nightmare the whole performance was!
