Starting at Stalham...on the "Broadland Lass" from Richardsons Cruisers in July 2006, I'm hoping selection is ok ???

Have booked for 7 days, first night was thinking about sleeping in Barton Mere before heading down to the Bure ??

Have read many posts on various subjects, have had a laugh reading some of them.... http://www.the-norfolk-broads.co.uk/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=23&Topic=2136   .............one of the funny ones.
So we are going to do the same...do a log of our 7 days on the Broads, mishaps, tears.........and laughter  Smile  and post it here Smile
I have never been to the Broads before, but dont I know I just gonna have fun !!!!!!
Any help/advice...much apprietiated

Pete & Maureen

Hi

I hired broadland lass no3 last summer and it was very roomy clean and well presented it is also very quite when underway due to the aft engine which is fitted under the rear deck ill try and sort some pictures out of her.

Hi Pete & Maureen & welcome.

I'm sure you'll be fine with Broadland Lass. One of a band of ageing boats (it's around 35 years old) but Richardsons keep looking after them & there's plenty of space for the money.

Not sure waht you mean by 'sleeping in Braton Mere'. If you mean mudweighting on Barton Broad then not recommended for a night mooring - you're rather exposed & liable to drift in the night. In the area I'd recommend Barton Turf, Gays Staithe or Neatishead.

Tell me i'm wrong....(please dont).....but a couple of nights we just want to moor up and be in the middle of nowhere...see no one, hear no one...just relax and take it in, is that possible on the Broads ?

please post back on how you got on.  Smile

ask the boat yard for a spare mud weight, then you can moor in the middle of no where

Personally I'd recommend staying on board your boat for a good nights kip  Playful Wink

Seriously though you're better off "mudding" in South Walsham or Salhouse Broads rather than Barton. As said above it can be a bit exposed

I picking up some strong vibes on "mudding"   I take it this is putting your anchor in the middle of nowhere as opposed to a mooring ???

I should get 3 points for effort at least   Playful Wink

Got it in one putting the mud weight down just outside the marked channel and riding on it. Nothing like it you hear the sound of the waves lapping at the bow, magic.

Use the full length of the mooring line top (stalham) end of the broad to the right of the channel is fairly protected. If it is really blowy moor to the bank at the far end of the first dyke to pennygate staithe. There is a shop but not a pub in the village and a board walk that leads to it.
