Hi all I will be staying at a guest house in Wroxham for a couple of days and wondered if anyone could give me some ideas on what/where to visit during the day. I've passed Wroxham by river but never actually stopped off there to have a nosey about. My evenings are sorted as I will be at the Dog in Ludham Bridge but I am just at a loss at where to go during the day. Any ideas will be gratefully appreciated, thanks

Guess it depends what you enjoy. One problem is a lot of places are closed now until Easter. I've never been there(too far to walk from the boat!), but Wroxham Barns is signposted in the town. There are the Haven Gardens(with tearoom) at South Walsham. You could do the "Bell" tour, just stopping at points of interest. If you look at a road map, starting at Wroxham follow road A1062 to Potter Heigham, then A149 to Stalham, then A1151 back to Wroxham. Very nice trip, takes as long as you want it to. I'm sure others have better ideas, but have a lovely stay.

Wroxham Barns is an excellent idea, and well worth a walk. Personally I'd have a day in Norwich, not that far by bus.

I suppose that Wroxham/Hoveton is about shopping really. There is Roys in all it's forms and boat chandlers, fishing etc. There are lots of good walks in the area. The walk alongside the Bure valley railway is a good one. You can get the train back. Check times as I am not sure when you are there. It is only a short bus ride from Wroxham in Norwich so if you want the attractions of the big city they are there on your doorstep. I would have said it's only a short trip into Ludham but I see you have already noticed that. Nigel Ludham

Sorry, didn't realise you weren't in a car! Ignore the "Bell" tour then!

The Bure Valley Railway would be my choice for an outing from Wroxham (especially without a car). It is their quietest time of year now though, no trains at all in November: http://www.bvrw.co.uk/trains/timetable.asp You could always jump on the Bittern Line to Cromer though, as long as the weather's not too bad: http://www.bitternline.com/

Thanks for the suggestions folks. The Barns look an interesting place (just looked them up on the net)and I gather there in walking distance to the village. I also plan to sit outside the wroxham hotel just so my daughter can see me back home on the webcam (I know sad isn't it ). I will also be looking for some good photographic opportunities, wildlife and interesting buildings, if anyone knows of such places nearby. Again many thanks for your ideas

Hiya Jim, When do you get in on Monday? I have a day off on Mondays, (after doing the shopping and beer orders for the pub), and have been to Horsey many times, with our dogs, but never when the seals are there, so would love to go(and I could drive you! Bonus!!) Cannot go tuesday though, as got the shop to open. Lorraine . www.thedoginnludham@yahoo.co.uk
