Hi all, i went to the Nottingham festival last weekend, with a female friend, she has a small cruiser, it was a very enjoyable time, the festival held on the Trent embankments, just up from Notts Forest footy ground, was great all the local community gather to watch the bands and firework displays,on one side of the Trent, and all the boating community moor side on to each other, narrow boats to narrow boats cruisers to cruisers, the people are just great, everyone clambering across each others boats, to get to friends, a beer and a sandwich offered by everyone you meet, great stuff, wondered if any of the forum members had been to the festival? its a must for next year,i have to add though, the locks are not for me, canals and locks? seems to much like hard work to me,lol, each to his own though...Looking forward to my trip back on the Broads in October mind, on the Distant Horizon...

Hi JU, Wife and I where down there for 3 days on a friends narrowboat. We do this most years and as you say, great boating community. Well I think it was 3 days, although I can only remember 1 of them. We were in the middle of the largest group moored mid river. At one point there were 13 boats moored together. I think I just sobered up...

Hi Jack Union - be careful you may have the wrath of Forest supporters on your back. There are two clubs in Nottingham and woe betide anyone who confuses the two!! Its Nottingham Forest and Notts County and never the twain shall mix - be careful when you next go North they have long memories!!!

We were probably within spittin distance Jack, just a couple of rows down from the DB. Unfortunately we had to leave Saturday lunchtime to attend a mates 65th so missed the firework dispaly this year. Although I was glad we got away earlier, it turned darn hot sat afternoon.. Name of the craft was "The lazy cockerel"
