I heard this on Saturday but there have been so many rumours surrounding Moores.

Perhaps not suprising and underscored by an article in this months Norfolk Afloat detailing the returns that can be made from Marina's and how investors are looking closely at this area as one that gives better returns than the stock market.

Its a great shame that another great name is to disappear.

Regards

Perry

Hi
I wish I knew what the truth was about Powles Marina. Moores / JPC / Antony Trafford family have sold the Moores holiday homes and the basin which the current hire boats operate from. They have applied for planning permission to extend their workshop building (Staitheway Road) and the black timber office building to cater for the hire operation to run from Powles Marina. Are they now calling the whole area Powles Marina including the wet sheds and dykes parallel or just the square basin in front of the River Moorings development, nearly half of which belongs to the individual owners of River Moorings. There are so many local rumours about what is going to happen it would be better that they made a public statement. It can't be good for business if people think they are going to close the hire side if they are not or that they will be no private moorings when they appear to be letting them still.  Confused

Some Peninsula Cottages started being sold off last year, and the balance, plus the cafe/pool, boatshed and moorings on the Peninsula were sold to Yellow Properties, who are apparently a consortium of local businessmen.

No doubt in time the large boatshed/workshop on the Peninsula, which is showing its age, will be demolished, to accommodate more holiday cottages.

The current Powles Marina site, which includes moorings on part of that main basin (in front of those executive houses), extending all around to those two wetsheds and the long, thin repair workshop, is being retained by the Trafford family, and JPC boat sales / Moores / Goboating.uk will be operated from there (hence planning applications). It will probably be a tight squeeze to fit all those operations on there, but lets be thankful that these important local businesses will continue.

Moores have kept those of us who moor our boats on the Peninsula fully in the loop on this, so i am surprised it is not more widely known about.

Regards, Roger

the pool complex is being managed and run by val and bob, its going to be turned into a bistro for the season and at the moment they are allowing overnight moorings in moores old basin and there is electric hook up available in with the overnight mooring charge of £7.50.  Val also does a great full english, believe me it was so nice we stayed on the mooring for a second night!! Bob and Val are a nice friendly couple and they really know how to make customers feel welcome!

regards

danny

They are also getting a licence to open a bar. you will need to book for meals.
here's their number 01603784029.
P.S Val was the housekeeper for Moores until she found herself out of a job when Moores sold the cottages.
