Super food at the F&F, but can anyone suggest the best mooring? Is it better to moor at Woodbastwick staithe across the river from the ferry at Horning or on Salhouse Broad?

I have often walked from Woodbastwick to the Maltsters at Ranworth, not realising that had I turned right instead of left the Fur and Feather was only a few minutes walk away.

Visiting in October and would like to make this a lunch stop. Have visited by road before, this time I would like to try the real ales as well!

So ends the lesson according to the Boatster.

Hi boatboy and welcome to the site. We tried the walk from the moorings opposite the Ferry Horning last September but found the road was under about 4 inches of water so we had to turn back. It turns out you can moor at salhouse for £1.00 for 2 hours but i dont know how many real ales you wish to sample. Maybe this would not be enough time.Anyway hope you enjoy the site chhers for now

regards john

Salhouse is a lot closer - Horning Ferry is a good two or three times as far.  If you're going in the evening, don't forget to take a torch for the stagger back.

Hi,

Salhouse broad is by far the closest mooring to the pub, however the issue of mooring fees has been a hot topic of conversation recently, see seperate thread.

It is £3 for half a day, £6 for overnight and £8 for 24hrs.

I personally like the mooring and the Fur and Feathers and therefore normally pay for the overnight.

Cheers

Keith

Yes, the Fur and Feather is our firm favourite, eat their at least twice in a week, last May when we were there their was entertainment (a local band). Also very friendly locals, got talking to a couple with a Broom at Brundall (where else!!), telling us about their sea crossings.

Highly reccommened.

Still can't decide if the Fur & Feather or the Locks at Geldeston is my absolute favourite.

Never mind, lots more market research planned on our next visit in June

Only 138 days to go!

Regards

Paul

Well lulnch on "site meet saturday" is already planned for the F&F, might just put my bike on the back of the boat so I can nip over again in the afternoon, (anyone want a "coggy"). Sunday lunch is taken care of - remember you and Gill are welcome to join us.

Sadly it'll be Monday before I can make it down to Geldeston. Hope the "olds" hadn't got anything planned for that week.

The new photo of Josh on your avatar looks good Roy - very smart with it's polished hull. You'll have to post some biger piccies.

Regards

Paul
