Had a fantastic meal in the Lion on Thursday night.  Good deal with any two meals from the Grill menu getting the second meal half price PLUS a free bottle of wine. Four of us had a good feed, great steaks and two bottles of wine for £58.

Sid is a great host and I would highly recomend it

I'll second that, from our meal there week last tuesday, there was only 7 in the bar, us four another couple and one other, after our meal Sid even put a quiz on for us, had a fantastic night.
This was the sunset that night.

Great photo Paul.
I wouldn't mind betting that the 'one other' was Merv.

Whenever we go to 'the north' we always stay overnight at Thurne and enjoy the meals and ale in The Lion.
I do know some people are not so keen, but is suits us and has done for many years. I do not know many pubs with such generous portions, nor such value.

Cheers,
Tim

Yep, gotta agree!

We have never had a bad meal at The Lion (once, the pudding was a awful - frozen type - but it was all dealt with light-heartedly and a free drink was offerred). The steaks there are superb.

We always have a pleasant evening and find the service prompt and Sid very amenable. Sunsets are always good there too, as demonstrated rather nicely by Paul & Lorna!

I will be visiting The Lion in a couple of weeks. I have never had a bad meal there, the staff are always friendly and efficient and Sid is the most wonderful host. He always makes everone feel very welcome.

Cheers

I would have to agree with all the previous posts.  great venue.  However the pole dancers are not up to much!!   I did once suggest to SWMBO to try it with some practise at home, only trouble was I couldn't fit an 'RSJ' into our bedroom  -  Griff LOL

One of these decades we WILL finish Broad Ambition !!
