Excellent surroundings - The old bar has no electric lighting.... Relying solely on candles during darkness. The floor is solid stone and the furnishings are wood/stone! Watch out for the bench seat with strange centre of gravity - always catches someone out! I have not eaten here but looking at others grub would see no reason to complain! The beer is rather nice here and strangely different.... There was an Elderflower brew on tap and another 'wheat beer' both of which were rather unique in flavour and well worth sampling... The 'Canary' is more of a session beer and also rather nice!

A good tip - if the moorings by the lock are full there is another set of public moorings on the left hand side just before the bridge barrier (limit of navigation) - you can walk across the bridge and old lock to the pub.

The pub has seen many changes - going to Restuarant only - through closed up for a prolonged period back to almost exactly how it was 20 years ago!!!
Just goes to show some things are better in their original incarnation! Now seems more popular than ever during the season.....
