Kevin, you are right and up to a couple of years ago the food was very good, simple pub grub but well cooked abnd tasty, I'm not sure what's gone wrong since then.

If I'm honest a few things have gone wrong at The Locks Inn.

The previous owner Tim who owns The Green Jack Brewery got divorced and his wife got the freehold of The Locks Inn and some other assets as part of the settlement, as a result Colin the tenant is no longer tied to Green Jack and reading between the lines positively encouraged to not buy from Tim. This means that one of the BIG plus points for me, Orange Wheat Beer is no longer available.

A couple of years back Colin hired a manager to oversee the day to day running and perhaps took his eye of the ball a little and as a result the food seems to have suffered along with service at times.

As for the rest of it, well it still has no mains grid electric relying on a generator and to this day electric lighting is still missing from the main bar, hence the candles. This all adds to the olde world charm and one shouldn't visit expecting a gastro pub, however the olde world charm on its own isn't enough to make up for the recent shortfall in selection of beer and food quality.

Just because The BA make a request, don't automatically assume they have the powers to make such requests!! Keeping a careful eye on an Authority which is making it's own rules.
