The last time I ate there was last year October time I believe, had the Fish & Chips - was excellent, large portion and the batter was lovely and crisp.

I don't think (one would hope) things have changed since then.  I walked past when I was up a couple of weeks ago and it was looking very welcoming with several customers eating. I carried on down the high street to the chippy, joined the queue and found them to be very yummy too.

Hi Andrew

It is an OK pub, though Adnams base so if you like Woodfordes best go to the Swan at Ingham a bit up the road (OK if you've got a car).

Food is OK, not up to the Fur 'N Feathers, but above average for pub grub.

You could walk the other way towards Sutton on the Old Yarmouth Road to the Harnser the food there is quite good.

Or moor at Sutton Staithe for the Sutton Staithe Hotel which is also good. You can also walk to the Harnser from here, I can and did walk home from here, before we had our base moorings here!

For a real treat, try fish 'N chips back on the boat from Stalham at the end of the High St, best around!!

John.

Swan Inn at Stalham is one of our regulars. Never had a bad meal, and service second to none. It might be worth phoning to book a table if you definitely want to try it, it can get full with locals some days (01692582829).

The Harnser, as stated, is also good, but be aware they do not take card payments, so have a pocketful of cash ready. Unless things have changed since last December - anyone know? There were alterations going on, but whether that's just a re-vamp or major change, I don't know.

Regards, Ray.

I don't think you can a much better endorsement. We ate there in November, food was excellent and by the prices we pay here I thought quite reasonable.
