No, not been enticed through the doors yet. Strangely enough I have heard absolutely no comments whatsoever via the local grapevine either. So, Dave, set the ball rolling.

One thing about Oulton Broad is the sheer number of eateries within minutes of the Yacht Station. They have to be good to survive and I'm sure they all know it!

I agree with you Peter, we have tried most of them and will give this a go, the menu looks interesting enough, something for most tastes.

Hi Dave

Excellent ! A little on the pricey side I guess for OB, but its worth it. They also have specials, like 2for1 on burgers on some weekday evenings.

Good service, good food - well worth a visit - book first though (and in advance for a Friday or Saturday night)

Well we tried Tides on Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised, from the Menu I was expercting some type of Psuedo American Diner instead we found a very nice Restaurant with an eclectic mix of food. 4 of us ate and no one was dissapointed, we had starters:

Pate which was excellent (but just Pate)

Olives Humous and warm Pitta bread which was excellent

Mixed seafood platter (whitebait, tiger Prawns Taramasalate and Pitta bread) again excellent

Confit Duck leg with a Hoisin and Chile red pepper salad which was the Star of the starters and could have graced any menu anywhere.

All served fine dining stylee.

Mains:

Rib Eye Steak which was very tasty with Hand Cut Fries (of which more later)salad and Onion Rings. The Steak was delicious but more medium than the rare that had been ordered but I think this was in part due to the steak having been tenderised (by hammering) which left it quite thin hence easily over cooked.

Chump of Lamb with the same garnish as the steak which was pefectly cooked and delicious.

The other 2 had the Pan fried Sea Bass with some type of classic French potato (sorry can't remember which as I didn't have it) and veg. Both the other people said it was delicious

We didn't have dessert as we were full, both the Starters and Mains were good sized portions

We washed this down with 2 decent bottles of Red and finished with 2 Lattes and 2 Liquere Coffees and the total bill was £125 which I thought was good value for the food and drink we had.

The Decor is "nice" but a touch bland, It wasn't all great, the Air Con was on full and it was a little chill, the serving Staff were very young and not the most attentive but saying that the young guy who served us was very polite and efficient. The biggest "complaint (if there was one) was the so called "Hand Cut Chips" which we didn't think were, they looked and tasted like blast chilled pre pack ones but I would stand corrected.

Overall not the cheapest but far from expensive I will definately go again and would suggest you give it go.

Dave  Cheers
