Just returned from a long weekend at The Lion, what a change round, last September there was very little local trade but now almost every night there are locals in there swapping yarns & jokes giving the place a good atmosphere. I must commend Gail, John & their staff for the obvious hard work this has taken, &  three new pumps going in with Greene King IPA, Stella, & Aspuls cider soon. The Bure Gold is a very quaffable beer as I found out on Saturday afternoon!

Totally agree with you! We moored at Somerton a couple of weeks ago, intending to have a B.B.Q. However it was so cold we decided to go to The Lion. We received a very warm welcome, the beer was good and so was the food! They even do very reasonable take-aways if you prefer to eat on board.
The place has been smartened up and is now completely dog friendly!
Regards.....Alan & Linda.

Visited the Lion for the first time in quite a while Saturday lunchtime while out sailing - it has been smartened up a bit, but not overdone so it retains it's character.  Beer (Woodforde's Sundew) was excellent and reasonably priced, and pub was welcoming and friendly with several locals in.  Really good to see the place going again, and hope it gets good trade.

Better late than never tounge-in-cheekI stayed here from Sept26 till Oct 1st, again very well looked after, Good food, plenty of it, several beers on tap as well as ciders & wine. Not too far from the Staithe moorings, but do bring a torch, it can be quite dark at closing time in anything but high summer. My congratulations to Gail, John & all their staff as to the way they have changed this watering hole round, might be back more often than twice a year soon LOL

We went there many moons ago.   Not only did they serve the most wonderful meal for us but offered us bread from the freezer plus other bits and bobs had we needed it.  Worth the walk to the pub and I hope they continue to do well.   If only that darn bridge was higher we could all get through.   May be like others we should complain to the European Court that it is against my human rights to get through the bridge  lol.
