Cor ... with that level of aggression coursing round your blood stream Boatman2 I'm guessing that you must be a meat eater!  Playful

I don't think I'm asking for special treatment at all - just a little variety and a request to move away from the predictable bought in frozen muck which so commonly get's served to vegetarians. It would be a bit like you going into every pub and finding nothing but chicken curry or burgers to choose from, every time.

For the record, those who know me will tell you that I am neither rude nor selfish - just at a complete loss to understand why some pub chefs find the concept of veggie food such a mystery and extremely frustrated by the ever present mushroom stroganoff!   Frown

I don't complain about food in a pub (at least it is very, very rare) or expect people to go out of their way. I understand that some establishments have limited facilities - I just don't bother to eat at those places now whose menus have seemingly come straight out of the back of a Brake Brothers van. Just because I made the choice not to eat meat doesn't mean that I should be content to eat unpalatable slop - have you ever eaten a Brake's veggie lasagne? I like good quality food as much as any meat eater does and it's not difficult to do!

I may have had an initial rant, but the whole point of this thread was to seek out those pubs and restaurants around Broadland which do offer something different, tasty and preferably homemade in the veggie line - I hoped that it might be useful for other non meat eaters.

I'll crawl back into my cardboard box now and munch on a lettuce leaf or two.

P.S. My apologies if you perceived my opening post as being rude - it was actually intended to be a rather tongue in cheek rant, albeit about something I was extremely frustrated about at the time! You will note that I have not complained about any particular establishments - I have no intention of naming and shaming - I just want to highlight the good out there.

If you're a regular reader of the forum you'll see that very few of my posts are about vegetarianism!  Most of the time I'm boring the pants off of people wittering on about the local history.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the reason I'm a vegetarian is because I don't actually like meat rather than it necessarily being a "lifestyle choice". I went off meat at the age of 5 because it just tasted of fat and nothing else to me. Strange ... but true! Over the years I have tasted meat every now and again to see whether anything is different ... it isn't. I also pointed out that I am not that strict where beer is concerned.

And wash your mouth out ..... Woodfordes Wherry !!  Can't abide the stuff !!  Gasp

At over 3000 posts and 7 years membership It would be pretty boring if even half your posts were about your dietary preferences
HOWEVER,
There are few things in life more satisfying than a nice Mushroom Stroganof washed down with a good pint of Wherry.

I'm outta here !  Smile

Now the world has gone to bed, but darkness won't engulf my head,
'cos I can see by infra-red, Oh how I hate the night.

Boatman2,
Yes we do have a regime of free speech in this country, however that is usually blessed with a degree of acceptance of another person's point of view, this is not obvious in your very arrogant & argumentative posts.
I am not a "veggie", I enjoy Roast Beef & all the trimmings, but I do accept that some people do not wish to eat meat, that is their choice & I see no point in haranguing them about it.
