Topic: Why?

Apologies but not really a lot to do with the broads.
What I would like to know is why when everybody is subject to corona restrictions, can Caister stadium run greyhound racing and stock car racing with hordes of spectators packed around the arena when motor racing and regatas etc cant take place.

I think you will find motorsport is restarting along with theatres like the Hippodrome - subject to them having appropriate Covid 19 restrictions in place. If they don't comply with the restrictions then its up to the appropriate authority to take action.

Have you been to the Stadium since it reopened?

curlew    -- Aug-25-2020 @ 1:04 PM
yes the stadium has been fully open now for at least 3 weeks with several meetings taking place with hundreds of spectators.

I dunno, ask The Boris. Its no good asking us we are into boats, peace and quiet usually and no covid passing crowds.

I guess its all outside in which case its probably no worse than Wroxham at the moment.

If we see a spike in Covid19 at the Paget we will know who to blame!!!

They won't let the speedway run at Kings Lynn but can allow stock cars,  I have been told by riders it's because the are "professional" where as the stock cars are not, make sense of that.
It's not the management at KL  it's the powers that be that are stopping the Speedway running.

Not the league racing that has been canned until next year

The mind boggles, and now we have the result. Covid is back. When will people ever learn?

"several meetings taking place with hundreds of spectators"

Instead of the usual thousands! MM asks the question "Have you actually been there?". I took my grandson only this afternoon, limited number of admissions so plenty of space between groups, all drivers, marshals and staff wearing masks (unlike most High Street shop staff) and very, very few spectators without, mostly when eating or drinking.

You'd have stood more chance of infection taking a walk in town!

We've also been to the Hippodrome this year, being indoor audience perhaps closer together but ALL wearing masks without exception.

Bad examples to pick on...

Look at the death rate and the hospital admissions.  But also we are coming into flu season xx

Many thanks

It was being reported that "Normal" Flu & it variants were at a very low level in the Southern hemisphere winter which is coming to an end , with the reason suggested this has bee due to the various lockdowns & Covid19 precautions lie hand washing sanitising & avoiding the older & more vulnerable in the community (In UK 65% of hospital admissions with flu are from Care Homes + 20% from Residential Schools.
With the current procedures in place we have to just hope all goes ok.
