Hi all,

we will picking up out boat on Saturday 26th August at 1pm.  We will be heading South (I know, I know 2 days wasted but the vote is to go south!) and I would like to get through GY on the Sunday if possible.  This means I will have a lot of motoring Saturday afternoon. After the initial rush we will be taking it easy! My question is, what is the likelyhood of getting moorings at St Benets or Acle late afternoon on the Saturday? Are there any other useful alternatives prior to an early start on the Sunday?
(btw we will have a 45ft Broadsman)

Thanks for your help.

Mark

Your best bet would be Acle, lots of mooring and closer for the run down to Yarmouth. Were going South on Saturday after over night stop at Acle.We havnt gone South for many years so really looking forward to it ,good luck.

kindest regards

As the passage time on Sunday is 09-05 and it take around 2 hours from Acle you really need to be at either Acle or Stokesby for Saturday night, the problem is depending on what time you get the boat which is normally around 16-00 you will be arriving late so moorings could be a problem.
It's bank holiday that weekend so is likely to be very busy both on the river and at the yard.

In a nutshell
The Moore the merrier.

I would suggest that you spend the first night at the Stracey Mill/Arms. £5.00 overnight moorin. There is a cafe and shop there for Breakfast and any last minute groceries etc. It is a good mooring and only 1 1/4 hours down to Yarmouth if you go with the tide.  Have a great holiday.    Cheers    Smile

I read somewhere that

Hi there,
Also being bank holiday weekend I'd go to Acle, two hire boat yards at Acle so you'll be able to get a mooring ,also good for getting to gt Yarmouth passage time Sunday morning
