Hiya,
Just joined as I found the site when looking for boating information. Soon to book for next year(2020) I will be asking a lot of questions, some probably stupid but hey ho  Smile  I have never been near a boat apart from a ferry but have always fancied it, so should be interesting . Hope to interact with a good few of you soon.

Welcome to the forum Tam.  Ask your questions and you will receive excellent answers from the great wealth of experience gained over the years by the forum members.  Other members will welcome you soon but some are a bit busy knocking lumps off each other on another thread.  Happy boating.

Hi Tam
Welcome,
If you are coming from Bonnie Scotland, the only thing that we suggest is, if you can travel the day before and overnight in a hostelry with breakfast, as when you jump on a  boat for the first time its nice to be fresh as a daisy.
There is a bit to take in ie where to store the goodies and which bed to nab. LOL
You will be very welcome so just enjoy.
Kindest Regards
Marge and Parge

Welcome from me too!
Have a great holiday the information in the post(s) that Jerry mentions will not have any effect on your visit in 2019 !
Which yard are you hiring from? The advice about overnighting locally is good as you can sometimes get started early if the boat is ready its always worth asking and has the advantage of no  panic if there are delays on route.

Hi and thanks for the welcome! I have just booked for a week next July 2020(Already arranged holiday for this year).
There will be my wife, me and 7 year old grandson, we have booked the Barbados from Richardsons. We will stop overnight on way down to be fresh for the start, thinking of Doncaster area for stop over.
Now to start asking all my questions, I will keep them to the correct sections to keep the board tidy.
Can't wait and again, thanks for the welcome.
