Hiya,
I'm Dave and the latest to take on the challenge of running the Horning Foot Ferry.
Having not run a ferry before or dealt with the BA, it's been an interesting learning experience!!!
After a few test days over the last few weeks, we start a 7 days a week service through the School holidays tomorrow!!
The official press do is on Saturday at 11am where a few local dignitaries will be around. Please come down and say "hi" !!

Hi Dave
Good luck with your new service. Its good to see it back which will help cyclists and walkers that get to Woodbastwick. I used to walk down there and often wished I could get over the river for a pint before going back.

What hours are you running the ferry and will you also be able to pick up people at other moorings like Horning Staithe? It will save the walk! boat-sail

Hi Bob,
We'll be running 7 days a week from 11am til roughly 8pm during the School holidays. After that, prob just weekends, we'll see. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, we'll only be running from the inn to Woodbastwick. We're tied by the 200metre rule unless we go into a much higher toll bracket.

Hi Dave, may I wish you all the best in your new venture. Operating a ferry on the Horning Raceway will be a challenge in itself!  Cheers

Whatever happens now, I'm blaming it on Brexit. Everyone else is!

Put some chains across, that should slow the buggers down. Smile

Just because The BA make a request, don't automatically assume they have the powers to make such requests!! Keeping a careful eye on an Authority which is making it's own rules.

Pleased to hear about the service directly from you, and the hours sound good. I was concerned about late night drop-offs with noisy customers at locations such as Cockshoot but I see you are not operating from there at the moment, and your hours would avoid that anyway.

Over the years I have seen many a car occupant parked up, looking across at the pub, so I think you will get some trade from there too.

I was not overly keen when I first heard about the service, I admit, but I don't think this is likely an issue now

Best wishes , Karen

But of course, if you had a car the very last place to eat would be the Ferry Inn!!!
