We are looking at 7 days in First week of June. One of our party is registered Disabled with limited mobility. Is it possible to book a mooring in advance that is close to facilities / pubs to make life easier. We will have a wheelchair also.

Any tips or knowledge of Disabled Moodings appreciated.

We have booked a Brinks Serenade as it appears to have the least steps.
I look forward to your responses. Thanks in advance ????????

Hi and welcome to the forum. The only mooring that I know of that can be pre booked is the New Inn at Horning. Very popular spot and very helpful mooring attendant. Give them a call on 01692 631223.

If you take a look at a Broads map, you can see which moorings are close to pubs and shops, also whether they are stern or side on.

Good Morning from a wet and windy South Wales. You could try the 'Nancy Oldfield Trust' who arrange broads experiences for people who have mobility problems and they may be able to point you in the direction of areas with access suitable to your needs. there is a website with contact details. Hope yo ind what you are looking for, it is a great place to visit. This year will be my fifth time and I am still finding new things to see and do

By all means talk to the Nancy OLdfield Trust but doubt that they will offer a great deal of help as they have no moorings which will add to whats already on offer.

Early June will not be desperately busy and my guess is you will not have a lot of difficulty mooring - probably the best way to go is to moor in some of the boatyards as they will always have hard access by the waters edge and should you need it and ask, help at hand.

The Bridge Inn at Acle also used to allow pre-booking of moorings for disabled crews. Not sure whether that has changed or not but would probably still be worth calling them (01493 750288)

If you get to the Southern rivers, the Ferry Inn at Surlingham will reserve moorings (01508 538659) as will Oulton Broad Yacht Station (01502 574946).

'Afternoon, Dibdobbs - and another welcome to the Forum  Smile .

The Bridge Inn at Acle will still permit a mooring to be reserved for those with disabilities.

Yes early June is quiet except for one thing...
The 3 Rivers race, 24 hour race starting 11:00 Saturday 1st Jun At Horning sailing Club. around 100+ dinghies and yachts heading down river..

There is nothing to stop you going through the race, but it might be an idea to just stop at say st Benets and just watch them all go by before proceeding on..

The Saturday  you'll find it difficult to find a mooring at any of the 3 pubs in Horning, as it will be jam packed with people watching..
If you are around that Saturday it will be extremely busy fron Horning to Ludham Bridge and down to South walsham Broad, after that it thins out a bit..
More info on the race at...

and a video of the start one year https://youtu.be/mmF18-q9paw

Glad we asked now, as realised we need to plan carefully.  Useful to know about the Sail Race on the 1st June !! - will be wonderful spectating, but maybe a day to avoid 'getting off' the boat !  Cheers everyone
