Hi All!

*First post - please be kind Smile  *

we have been visiting the Broads for the last few years, and like everyone. we have fallen for it & now avoid our holidays abroad!!

this year we are using Richardson's again and we are hiring "Sunway" I believe this boat used to be called "Fair Diplomat".

I can find very limited information/pics or reviews online for the boat and Richardson's are not very forthcoming with additional information.

Has anyone hired this boat before?
Any reviews, photos, anecdotes or information will be graciously received!!

Below is the boat we are using for 10 days this September,
Usually we come up in June so we are a little concerned about the weather, either way we will make the most of it :P

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome
If you go to the bottom of the page to "Hire Boat Info"and find "Fair Diplomat" you will see a few pictures there.
(it looks as if Richardsons purchased 2 of these from FairCraft after the 2018 season.)

Judging by other hirers I'm sure you will enjoy Sunway, both 1 and 2 have been spruced up and are nicely fitted out both above and below decks. You are correct they were Fair Diplomat's. Enjoy your holiday, cheers Mat

'Afternoon, Hafers91 . . .

If considering going up the Ant during your holiday you may possibly have to wait for sufficient clearance on occasion at Ludham Bridge as I believe the 'Fair Diplomat' class possibly had an airdraft of 8'9" - but stand to be corrected.

Wherever you end up, I sincerely hope you have a very enjoyable holiday afloat  Smile .

Not quite an ancient mariner ...... though some say he was at sea before Pontius was a pilate !

The airdraft on these boats everything down is approx 8ft 4, the highest point when they were in NBD’s fleet was the seat which can be removed .
We hired them for seven years and had great family holidays on them , if you have a choice of which one try and get the one with the additional forward hatch as it allows more air through and cools the interior down on a hot day .
The only problem as such we encountered was that they have quite a deep draught below water (but means the cabins are nice and cool) and at Salhouse we couldn’t moor on the left as you enter as they would ground out a meter or so from the moorings , other than that we would still be most tempted if we hadn’t have purchased our own boat .
