I hired Brinks Jazz 5 last year. I found positives and negatives to it. It is very easy to handle particularly from the outside steering position as you have a great view around the boat. For a first time boater i think it ideal from that point of view.
The down side for me is that the beds were not particularly comfy. They were quite hard and the sliding door is see through so when you shower you don't get a great deal of privacy getting in or out of the shower. Getting in or out of the boat is an issue if your not very mobile as the ladder down (It is a ladder and not steps) is steep. The boat is also particularly high compared to the bank and other hire boats.
On the plus side it was well equipped. Barnes Brinkcraft could not do enough for us. You don't need to look at the engine each day and check the oil etc(I was shown were it was then told to forget about it). It feels quite spacious even though its not that big a boat. The fact it had shore power capability was fantastic for me. First hire boat i have ever had that facility on. I also found the fuel consumption good (I actually managed to get some fuel deposit back for once)
Overall me and my wife had a great time on the boat, however, would i hire it again possibly not, we hired it because of our small dog and thought it would be easy to contain him on this boat as it was his first time ever on a boat and we did not know what he would do. But looking back the fact it was so cumbersome to get on and off the boat with him made it more difficult than it needed to be. Even so we had a fantastic time.
