We have, I think a broom Commander 35 with a sliding roof. But is it a broom. I have heard that Bourne and aquafiber also built similer boats. How do I know what I have.
If you don't use your boat. Sell it.

Has the boat a Broads registration, my guess is it's not a Broom, it doesn't look right but I'm not an expert. Dave
if it is to be it is up to me.

Hi, my parents own one of the ex-hire Broom Commanders so I know a bit about them but please don't take what I say as absolute gospel. I don't think yours is one of the other Broom hire boats as the windows in the canopy are different and I think we have seen most of the others at some point. Number 1 was built on it's own then 2,3 and 4 were added with consecutive reg numbers around 1975. Then in around 1979 2 more were added(possibly renamed from another class) and these are subtly different;window shape, colour etc. I believe other 'Commanders' were built for customers/fleets but I don't know much detail. Their one has a Broom build plaque mounted by the helm which I suppose is the best way to confirm whether it's a Broom or not. Differences I have seen are the canopy windows, the Brooms all seem to have a sliding door/hatch next the helm and the fittings used inside appear to be a bit more posh(the canopy winch for example is a nice looking aluminium one rather than a trailer winch which I have seen in other ones). Hope that helps, sorry it's a bit of a ramble. If you have any questions, ask away:)

Pretty certain she is not a broom or a commander.I suggest you have a look at the " boats of the norfolk broads" database as it is almost always spot on. I have had a quick look but without the name or number it is a bit tricky. Cannot see aquafidre, Bourne or broom of 35 foot with the same window configuration as yours I am afraid. Closest is skipper at 30 foot. Good luck. Please let us know what the answer is Graham

Hi, jimfin. I reckon you've got an Aquafibre 35 Star Class https://dailyboats.com/boat/42878-buy-aquafibre-35-star-class
Been hit by another boat? Report the incident to the Marine Accident Investigation Branch’s dedicated accident reporting line on 023 8023 2527 which is monitored 24 hours a day. Help to make the Broads safer.

Think I agree with paladine, the windows in the cockpit and rear cabin appear identical to your boat. Graham

I would guess if the mast is original that she is a former Emerald Star craft. Aquafibre, founded in 1965, was a consortium of NSBYA (Blakes) owners, Bell, Broom, Linford, Martins and Richardson. Ownership of the company changed over the years but Brooms was still a partner when It ceased trading in 2009. Fred

The Bourne(Griffin 35) was designed by my father as was the Broom Skipper which was only 30 ft. so it is not a Skipper. I do not recognise the superstructure but the hull is a Bourne 35 which were later moulded at Aquafibre after Bourne closed.
