A meeting is to take place to decide what to do about the derelict boats on the staithe.

This has just been posted on a FB group by the BA, in relation to Stalham Staithe:

"We are currently in the process of negotiating this becoming a 24hr mooring in which case our bylaws will be enforceable which will hopefully address the occurrences of overstaying."

I hope this is completed before the start of the season. Congratulations to the BA for proceeding with this. It was always going to be the only viable solution.

We sort of gave up on the idea of trying to moor in Stalham some time ago. Last summer we moored at Sutton  and took the very long walk on a very hot day into Stalham , where we had an enjoyable afternoon, as well as stocking up on provisions. Not everyone would want to undertake such a long walk so I think it's great news that the village staithe at Stalham could be fully useable again.  A nice short walk into town should bring a bit of extra business to the shops etc -  especially valuable for the small local businesses.

I understand that the staithe has already / recently had upgrading works carried out. Will try and get some photos...

Karen, it has indeed been completely refurbished and a very nice job they've done too. Unfortunately, within a few days of completing the work, 2 liveaboards were back in residence. Hopefully when the BA take it over the 24 hour rule can be enforced.

Know what you mean, last time I walked to Stalham I rather overdid the shopping, so caught a bus back to Sutton.
