I know that a number of members on here knew Roy Abrahams (Roya),   I heard just now from his wife Gill that he sadly passed away in hospital yesterday evening.  I know that he was a stalwart contributor to the NBF at one time and has more recently been involved with several Facebook-based sites focused on the Norfolk Broads.  From my point of view he was a  great character, an enthusiastic Broadsman and a friend and he will be missed.

Just read the sad info.
RIP Roya, as has been said he was one of the founder members of this forum.
Was still active on the Facebook forums.

A while away yet but being local to Kingslynn, I would be pleased to know of funeral info  as and when.

Sad news indeed. Roy was one of the first to welcome me to the forum when I joined 13 years ago.

Very sad to hear of Roya's passing away.

Knew him well in the early days of the Forum and when he and Gill purchased 'Joshua'.

Our deepest  sympathies go out to Gill and family.

R I P Roya, you'll be long remembered on the Broads.

Kind regards, John(Captain

Sad to read this. Roya was the very first person we met when we attended the first little forum get together in June 2005 at Stokesby. He and his wife Gill offered us refreshments and and welcomed us to the fold. Within half an hour we met Dibbler and Sue, Steve and Vicky, Lee & Christina ( Tuppence ) , Steve & Cath (madmancs) amongst others. Richard (& family) arrived later on board Lapwing. Roya was welcoming and jovial and we often subsequently saw him at Ranworth from 2006 when we bought our boat and where he and Gill kept Joshua after buying him from John & Jo. He  will no doubt also be remembered as "table 22" -  his favourite spot at the Maltsters and a term he and others used frequently.

Condolences to Gill and the family.

Sad to read of his passing, and although we never met him, we're aware of his early contribution to the Forum prior to us joining.

Sincerest condolences to his family.

Steve.

Such sad news. First met Roy in June 2005 at the very first NBF meet. We didn't always see eye to eye but we agreed to differ amicably for the most part. RIP, mate.

So sorry to hear about Roy (Roya). He was one of the great characters from the early days of the Forum and without whom it was never quite the same.

Roy brought with him a huge level of over enthusiasm for everything he did. He was a larger than life character in every sense. I still use the mop I won in a Christmas competiton he devised where you had to write a story about a lonely mop. This was typical of him, so keen to try something daft and new. I remember his cheery voice from table 22 and the Dwile Flonking at The Dog.

Roy was also a person of somewhat extreme political views and this coupled with his genial level of wild enthusiasm had a habit of eventually getting him banned from most social media groups he joined. Facebook gave him a new outlet and it was fun engaging with him again in a bit of friendly banter. We never agreed on just about anything, except a love for The Broads, but that was part of the fun of Roya.

Sorry he has gone and my best wishes to Gill.
