Just one question from me , but how does the BA operate breydon water with bad weather , regarding hireboats ? On the weekend of the 21st October there was a few hireboats that ended up past the channel posts that either blown there or found It hard to navigate in the rough conditions that weekend , I heard that breydon was closed to crossing ? Yet hireboats were crossing , would it not be an idea for future use to try get a notice or sign at acle to warn boaters that it's closed due to bad weather ? I also heard that the BA put up a warning on line or your Facebook , but that's no good when signal is lost or pour ?

Proper digital notice boards at GYYS, the Yare and Waveney entrances would not go a miss, it is the 21 century after all.
If I am a "woody" how come there are no "fibreglassy's" "plasticy's" or "steelies"?

Just our opinion but the less it looks like the M25 the more we like it. Neon signs don't appeal. Regards Marge and Parge

I totally agree but we have a situation where the BA have taken it on themselves to close Breydon when deemed necessary. That also means that people will assume that if they aint there closing it, it would be considered open and therefore safe. So during lunch time and after knocking off time we can assume Breydon is safe irrespective of weather conditions or tide because the BA are not there closing it. They made this rod for their own backs and now we need signs to protect both the boaters and the BA

Dear Steve and Vicky, Our approach to the management of Breydon Water is that we will only close it to all vessels if there is an immediate hazard to vessels or persons or an obstruction across the channel. We restrict access to Breydon Water for hire boats in adverse weather conditions such as large swell, strong wind or poor visibility through the rangers on the Spirit of Breydon turning boats back, the staff at Reedham Quay and the Great Yarmouth Yacht Station advising hirers, updating the Urgent Boating News on the website and sharing the information on social media. We also email key organisations within the Broads if the event happens during normal office hours. At the same time we advise private craft to exercise caution. The decision to do this is at the discretion of the local Rangers who are on station at the time. The feedback from the trial of electronic information signs at the Reedham and Somerleyton bridges, funded by Network Rail, has been positive. We will consider your suggestion for more signs though siting them needs careful consideration so they aren’t a blot on the landscape. Regards John

Agree with not a blot on the landscape , with your new taken over at acle moorings , would be great area there for the northern rivers when hireboats intend to travel south , yes reedham / somerleyton bridges are also key areas to introduce this , Thank you for replying
