And finally, the water skiing licencing and controls are not the issue here. The bank erosion and general damage caused by wakeboard boats running under the water skiing banner is far more severe. These boats run at maximum wash so the 'skier' can jump the wash. This wash turned our towed dinghy over completely (and it was a proper lugsail dingh, not an inflatable) Maybe BA could look at wakeboarding more closely. Thank you for tonight JP.Its been well worth coming along.
If I am a "woody" how come there are no "fibreglassy's" "plasticy's" or "steelies"?

Thanks for that feedback JanetAnne. Glad you found it useful. If anyone comes across someone wakeboarding or water-skiing and creating an unreasonable wash then I would encourage them to contact Broads Control (01603 -756056). A wash of more than 300mm at the bank is contrary to the water-skiing permit conditions and all light sports vessels have to pass a wash test before a permit is granted. John

Plenty of times on the Yare, between Brundall and Cantley. Once, during the BBB, we had a water skier who thought it was such fun to literally circle a Wayfarer, throwing the occupants and equipment all over. AFAIK nothing was done by the crew as, by the time they had composed themselves, the water skiers had gone. 300mm wash at the bank, seen that plenty of times too. Also consider what a 300mm wash will and does do to either kayakers or dinghy sailors. The activity should not be happening on the Yare, Waveney or any other rivers. Possibly on Breydon Water, 3 hours either side of high tide, as the wash will have dissipated by the time it reaches shore.
Gary. Cantley Computers At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
