Dear Norfolk Broads Forum Members, Many thanks for supporting this initiative and for all your questions. I am hoping that you will find my answers helpful and that they will alleviate some of your concerns. Hopefully I will have all the answers for you but please be patient if some of them need further research or input from other members of staff and of course I can only respond as fast as I can type. Rest assured all the questions posted before 9:00 pm will be answered and if I can’t do it before the end of the evening you will get an answer as soon as possible afterwards. I will have a small number of colleagues with me to help with the factual information. This morning I am out on the water with the Lord Mayor of Norwich, the Mayor of Great Yarmouth and the Chairman of Broadland District Council. They are meeting at Hardley Cross, the boundary of the City Council's ownership of the river, to celebrate the importance of the Broads to the wider area. Have a good day and I look forward to exchanging posts with you tonight. I would welcome your comments after the event as to whether you found it useful and whether we should consider repeating the exercise. With regards John

Welcome back, JP. You obviously regard this new addition to the forum as a marketing exercise, from your choice of avatar and signature. I thought it was going to be more of an official response facility to members questions. I hope we won't be treated to marketing spin. Sorry if I sound cynical or unwelcoming, but I am rather disappointed.

Palandine, Whether we like the National Park branding or not, currently it is here to stay. As John is here as a representative of The Broads Authority the message has to be consistent. I don't agree with the rebranding exercise, and wouldn't want to see the area become a proper National Park, but would expect nothing less in terms of a signature or avatar. Lets not pre-judge how this evening may go. John, Welcome to this joint BA and NBF experiment and I look forward to reading your answers this evening.
Happy to support the honest and reliable pubs and businesses of The Norfolk Broads.

I too am very disapointed and think the avatar is insensitive and deliberately provocative and will now take no part in tonights discussions.

kfurbank, perhaps you misunderstood the point I was making. Any member's choice of avatar and/or signature is a conscious decision, and tends to reflect on them, one way or another. But it's their choice. The Broads National Park title is only supposed to be used in connection with marketing. I desperately hope that this new forum isn't going to be used for that purpose. I don't want to be sold anything. I'm expecting straightforward answers, not marketing spin. A first impression has been made on me, and you only ever get one chance to make a first impression. I'll leave it there.

It's not often I post these days but I totally agree Paladine. As expected the Marketing excuse justifying lying about the status of the Broads is merely a means to justify the end, which is to fool people into thinking we are in an actual National Park, whether for marketing purposes or not.

A wasted opportunity to promote the Broads using the avatar and signature. A rather silly stunt not worthy of the office held by the poster imho. I hope replies to questions raised on the forum will be dealt with in a sensible manner.

Hi JP I hope you all enjoyed the Hardley Cross meeting, we cruised passed while you were all there. Hope you were pushing them all to reinstate rubbish collection, otherwise it may be 'Welcome to The Broads National Waste TIP!! '. Nice to recieve a cheery wave as we went passed, to which we responded . Good luck with tonight's event, remember we all love the Broads for our boating. John.

I too am disappointed with this, if you have seen the comments here and elsewhere I think you would realise that this exercise would now start on the back foot for many people. Sad. tony b

Apologies Paladine, I didn't intend this evening to be a marketing exercise. I just copied my usual email signature and picture into my preferences. Certainly my intention is provide accurate responses to the questions posed. Thanks for the comment John. The visit with Mayors went according to plan, apart from being a little chilly. I was really pleased to see so many boats out and about. Best wishes John
