Leaving old cars aside I still don’t really get it, what do you get if you throw back an old purchase on a Thursday? I presume that you have to be able to produce a till receipt, so as most of my purchases date back to when Lathams used manual cash registers I guess I’m out of luck, although the idea of taking back a cracked teapot and asking for a replacement o a Thursday, sounds jolly!!
Definitely not a Vanguard, the Mk1 or phase 1 as it was known was the “Beetle back” Mk2 and Mk3 had round tail lights that protruded beyond the boot lid but the wings sloped down from the boot lid so the boot was the highest point. My Dad had every model of the Vanguard right up to and including the Vanguard Vignale which had the straight 6 engine that was put in the Triumph 2000 with overdrive on a four speed box. The other models had a 2 litre 4 “wet” cylinder engine the same as was fitted in the Triumph TR1/2 and 3. They had a 3 speed column change. Dont think its an Ensign either as that was basically the same as. The Vanguard.
The rear lights are definitely much more like the Ensign than the Vanguard but the shape just doesn’t look quite right. Then again I’m not as familliar with the Ensign as I am with the Vanguard and the pic isnt fantastic so I’ll bow to your greater knowledge Steve.
