That includes keeping up the pretense that discussions about such things have no place here. They have a place everywhere. War is on Europe's doorstep for the 1st time in 75 years - are you seriously suggesting it's not a topic for discussion or debate?

Tad confused. So we cannot discuss it in the " Not really the Broads section ? Even though it's about a boat.
Is this because any comment about the Ukrainian situation is termed as political and therefore to be completely off the agenda?
I respect that we don't want political debate, but when is a door not a door....

While everyone will have an opinion, those opinions become rather irrelevant in the light of Grant Schapps' letter to all UK ports (see attached pic). Russian vessels will be banned from UK ports, but HMG must be seen to be acting within the law.
Been hit by another boat? Report the incident to the Marine Accident Investigation Branch’s dedicated accident reporting line on 023 8023 2527 which is monitored 24 hours a day. Help to make the Broads safer.

The ship in question remain at anchor in Yarmouth Roads. There is of course a long history of Russian vessels coming to Great Yarmouth and once upon a time even coming up to Norwich. This curiously at that time was closely associated with the boating industry in Norfolk. The soft wood known as "Archangel Red' was used on many old Broads Boats and famous for it's durability.
More recently we have seen Russian supply vessels involved in the oil industry and today the shipment of component parts for the offshore wind farms. Scrap metal is also exported out of the port.
We should also be aware that the small number of crew members on this ship may well be of any number of different nationalities and even the ownership of the vessel may not be Russian. To sit at anchor awaiting instructions can be very difficult and the welfare of the crew should not be confused by any political decisions.

Grant Schapps' letter is very specific and, as the Onego sails under the Russian flag, it is clearly in one of the categories of vessels to which he refers. Presently, it is a matter for Peel Ports whether it is allowed to dock, but I would think the crew would rather be sitting in the safe waters of the UK than somewhere in Ukraine right now.

YES by all means let it unload the crew are hardly involved plus after its unloaded the Russians wont receive payment as banks wont deal with them at the moment, so win win all round. the same with the oil tanker in the Oakneys there's now a ship floating around with no charts to go else where what happens if it runs aground with all that oil on board and supply's running out for the crew.Very short sited decision in my opinion. They don't just have a route from A to B, they will have charts for most of the world and all the knowledge and equipment to plot a new course elsewhere, and if running out of fuel they still have an anchor so no reason to run aground anywhere.
If I can make route changes on the go on a 30' plastic tub I'm sure a cargo ship can do it.
