Should we allow Russian ships into our ports? At present the general cargo ship Onego is waiting to enter Great Yarmouth. What's your opinion?

While I am sure we all have very strong feelings about the current situation can we please respect Richard's rule of not involving the forum in politics. Thank You Brian

Well said Brian, well said Steve. No place for politics on a forum devoted to the Broads.

Well, political debate is one thing, however…. I would like to say something from a personal point of view ( I’ve been thinking about this for a few days, and now this thread has propelled me to act) : To any members with Ukrainian family, background , roots etc, I wanted to simply show solidarity, send love and thoughts, and express my horror at what is happening in their country. On Saturday we were out for the day, on a planned visit to a nearby Market town, for a walk along the river, a flask of soup and a bag of chips from the excellent market square chippy. Throughout the day I was distracted - uneasy and extremely uncomfortable that I should even be thinking about enjoying a day out when fellow Europeans , who had likely been doing similar everyday things the previous weekend, had since been thrown into turmoil, their lives and their world upside down. It felt wrong, and I realised how much we take our freedoms, our lives, our whole existence really, for granted. We must all, religious affintity/group/beliefs aside, hope and pray for a swift resolution for this truly abominable situation. And I’m not entirely sure that when Richard asked for non political discussions, he was intending to stifle any comment whatsoever about world matters of a humanitarian crisis such as this, but I’ll take direction on this of course. While I personally have massive support for the poor sods in the Ukraine who are getting massively screwed over. A Russian ship has very little to do with the Broads unless it can get under Breydon or OB lock, which is geopolitical and therefore something that is probably best discussed elsewhere. Cocklegate, yes you are correct, it's more of the party politics that I don't want, causes to many arguments, like football and religion.
