A friend sent me a link to a You Tube video showing the entire Le Boat fleet adrift on the flooded River Lot in France. Terrifying! Le Boat fleet adrift

I hate to see the destruction of people's property even if it is a hire fleet but what I am most concerned about is that there appeared to be sufficient time for a professional looking video (including drone footage?)to be filmed and yet there was no obvious attempted intervention to try and save some of the boats. I'm not sure what could have been done but you would have thought that someone would have tried something whilst they were hooked up against trees or bridges?

Very sad to see the boats drifting like that. I would have imagined that it would put the rescuers life at risk because, yes get on to the boat if you could but how would you start it. I guess you could hitch it to another boat but that river is really shifting. I guess when the tide turned they would all return home, hopefully, although they were in a sorry state. Women dont nag they just point things out... M

" I guess when the tide turned they would all return home, hopefully, although they were in a sorry state." That river is non tidal, they won't be coming back. That is simply a torrent of flood water. Any suggestion of trying to board and rescue any of those boats would be out of the question, you've only got to look at the speed the river is flowing. A number of years ago, I was beside the River Argens in the south of France when that flooded. It cost 5 lives and millions of euros of damage to property. Absolutely terrifying.

I would be very surprised if any of those boats had the engine power to be able to handle those conditions, very sad sight tho
