Well you got me interested there Steve & Maggie, was about to set the record button for the series... ...till I looked up the cast - don't think I can bring myself to watch John Prescott! Regardless of politics I just can't stand him. Ah well, let's hope there is a series 3! Karen Edited for typo "Wind up the elastic band Karen - we're setting off!!"

Yes very enjoyable, albeit a bit over egged on everything. Having done the canals as a complete novice I never got into such a pickle as that lot. It is all to make the programme (as my late Aunt used to say) go right. If they did everything spot on it would be boring. As for buying all that 'tat' to do up the boat with , well I rest my case. Can you just picture the average holiday maker on the Broads saying, just got to pop into Lathams to purchase a load of bits to make the place look like home. People would think you needed your bumps feeling. Looking forward to the next episode.

Tonight on Channel 5 at 2100 hrs - if interested. The last programme in the current series sees the celebs crossing the Edstone Aqueduct on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal en route to their final destination at Stratford itself. Steve.

Why do the producers and stars of this programme keep calling the narrow boats barges? The barges or butty's were the cargo vessels towed by the narrow Boats.

May be with their limited knowledge they have not got to the letter N in their facts about the history of the canals.

I think you may be onto something there. Just like the BBC weather forecasters , never seem to get it right. I am down here in Sussex and the weather is supposed to be sunny with clouds but it is actually lashing down with rain. ha ha ha
