Just something that was being talked about at work. Never even knew it existed of the coast of Suffolk. Anyone been there?

Many thanks

I seem to remember there was a hoohah about it being blacked-out on Google Earth.  Would be good to go and have a look from a distance.

Roy Bates was certainly a bit of a character. I believe at one time it was possible to become a Lord of the Manor of Sealand.  Playful

A certain member will be along shortly, to tell you all about it! Won't you, M'Lud? Playful

Regards, Ray.

Whatever happens now, I'm blaming it on Brexit. Everyone else is!

Some on talking about ME !   lol
You will NOT be allowed to "land" on the Roughs Tower aka Sealand.
Yes you can become a Lord, Lady, Baron or Baroness.
By doing so you help to support the running costs of Sealand. It has a very "interesting " history.
It beat the UK government, beat off a German invasion, and Yes a checked history with only some information coming out of it.
It can be seen from ships and I am sure a couple of Captains and Pilots on here will have seen it.

This may make som interesting reading.   Also doing a search will bring up more information - Hope you enjoy the read.

I cruise on THE NORFOLK BROAD as I can not cruise on something that is NOT.

Sailed round it many times - in a small boat you're out of sight of land but it's visible from the clifftop at Felixstowe. Best view is from the top bar of the Alex though.Supply boats used to go out from Felixstowe Ferry.

When Roy Bates to it over, I was about 16 years old and thinking yeah, we're going to get another pirate radio station. It didn't happen though. Happy days!  Smile

Likewise, been passed it many a time and it's still an impressive sight after all these years.

Sealand/Rough Sand Tower was one of several military installations erected in the Thames Estuary to protect the U.K. during the Second World War.
